Every space tells a story. We design the experience.
Every Southpaw project begins with a unique design tailored to the space and its users. From initial concept through to final installation, our design team works closely with clients to create environments that inspire, engage, and provide real benefit.
Our process combines creative vision with practical expertise, ensuring each sensory environment is both beautiful and functional.

Project Timeline
Design and installation projects take time and communication. This timeline highlights each stage of the process and the approximate timing you would expect. Communication is key and we will work together to meet the needs of you and your clients.
Our Design Process
Our design process begins with a sales visit where we discuss your requirements and vision for the space. Following this, our team creates a comprehensive design proposal and quotation tailored to your needs.
Once you decide to proceed, you raise a Purchase Order and arrange a 50% deposit. We then conduct a thorough site survey to ensure all custom items are made to measure. Your signed proposal places the order, and installation takes place 8-10 weeks from that point.
Design Visuals
We supply multiple site visuals of the proposed design, giving you a clear picture of how your finished space will look. These detailed renders show the room from various angles, helping you visualise the placement of every element.
Design Plan
Each proposal includes a design plan showing your layout in plan form. All products are numbered on the plan and listed alongside, providing a comprehensive overview of the equipment placement and room configuration.
Booking the Site Survey
The speed at which a room is completed is dependent upon the readiness of the room. A site survey will be undertaken as soon as possible, but only when Southpaw have been informed the room is in its finished state, including:
- Electrical work (if required)
- All building work or alterations complete (including ceilings & 2nd fix items)
- Any hoists or lifting equipment is in situ
- All fixtures and fittings complete, including air conditioning or heating units
- Clean and empty, free from all obstructions
- Unoccupied and available for our staff to have minimum 1 hour uninterrupted access
It is always advisable that you view our installation services as the final stage of your building/room preparation process. Once we come to install, your environment will be cleaned and ready to use straight away.
The Project Brief
Every project starts with your brief. You tell us about your new space, and we outline your requirements along with additional design notes and considerations.
Our design team considers every aspect of the environment — from suspension points for swings, to wall and floor matting for safety, climbing equipment for gross motor development, and flexible items that allow therapists to create sensory circuits around the room.
Product Descriptions
Each design proposal includes detailed descriptions of the key items seen within the design. From rocking barrels and platform swings to climbing walls and sensory loungers, we ensure you understand the purpose and therapeutic benefit of every piece of equipment.
Colour Choices
We provide a comprehensive selection of colour choices for the various made-to-order items in your design. From PU fabrics for bean chairs, vinyl for wall cushions and floor mats, to soft textured fabrics for sensory rockers — your space is customised to your preference.
